I found 2 old Victor #3 and one that looks like a #2 but it’s so rusted that I can’t read anything. I was out scouting for bobcats a couple years ago and found them mostly cover in dirt and stashed below a tree. They are regular jaw traps which haven’t been legal in Nevada for a long time. I’m guessing they got stashed and forgotten. Im going to revamp then like you did and set them for cats next season. Great Idea!!!!!
If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

I like the way you fastened that pan. Is that your idea? It's a dandy whoever thought of it.
I have avoided laminating my old victors as it seems to really slow them down. I guess whacking a pipe stuck in the end of the spring might fix that?
I don't get the point of the offset. It wont allow the spring to come up any higher near as I can tell?
Looks great. That welding training you took is paying off.

Way to go wolfdog!!!! I did the exact same thing on a few 3s and 4s. I added on to the frame of the pan moving my hole down and away from the original set up on a few. That way the pan was higher and the dog lay flat instead of an angle. But the way you have them works too. I took a vise grip and bent the very tip of the dog so it was flat right where it engaged the pan. But them I had to bend the frame in a little because the dog was short. Hope you enjoy tinkering and modifying ..... it's so self rewarding !!!

If you knock the galvanizing off where you weld(tack) it will be much better and easier . Nice job!
