I have seen where guys are using fox gland lures to target big boar coon and lots of them get caught in fox/yote sets with gland lure. But i havent seen much on using coon glad lures. is it just because most guys already have fox/yote gland lure thats what they use? what coon gland lure do you use? do you do anything different to a dirthole set if you are specifically targeting coons?

Reuwsaat wicked coon gland lure. I had good luck with it. In December and January. U will catch boars mosty with it. Cavens moonshine or fox hollow outlaw r very good coon lures. But there not gland lues.

That might not be a bad thing in the current market. I've never really used coon gland. But some Fox gland works good on Coon.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Great change up for yotes and fox too. Big boar coon love it, sows and juvies don't.

Coyote gland will put WAY more coon on boards than a coon gland. Don't know why, but it works.

I have experimented with coon gland lures in the past. Personally I found red fox and coyote gland lures to work better.

Late season here coon aren't as interested in bait but gland lures like fox, coyote, or cat work very well for me. I've dirt trapped coon and coyote my whole life. I have a bottle of blackies boars delight and have bought and used that stuff for years but honestly I have caught more coon on fox or coyote gland lure late season than I ever caught on coon gland lure. No clue why. Blackies red ranger fox gland lure is killer on coon and coyote both. I also like mink gland lure for coon. Charlie dobbins wrote about this in his land trapping sets and techniques book also, had same success I have evidently on coon using other species gland lures instead. I have a hard time here in late season (late december, january or so) to get coon to touch DPs with bait. But a flat set or dirthole set with fox or coyote gland lure, you get some real nice prime jumbo boars. I keep buying coon gland lure and trying it but I can seriously attest to red ranger for coon. I do set coon specific dryland sets with footholds too. Set right in the trails. Double dirthole sets are my pet coon set. Bait, lure, lots of combos possible with that set. Just gland lure in late season though works well for me.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Jab try Boars delight added to the sets with red ranger , you might see more responses from coon than with just red ranger. I seem to get fewer walk buys with both late season.

Coon glands serve two purposes. In the wildlife control game, we use coon glands, urine compounds to evict sows with young, and sows ready to drop young. In the fur trapping game, one of the little secrets I never talked about ( until it started to surface in trapping conversations) was using coon gland to catch older boars, mainly in late Dec till Feb, but can also work in the early season. Young boars and females will most of the time shy off coon gland, but females going into heat will get caught once in a while. Again never say never when it comes to coon behavior. some areas I have caught everything on the coon gland. Coon gland will also attract k9 but I believe it is many a curiosity thing. K9 and cat glands work year-round for coon. I use k9 gland in my ADC work for coon in cages a lot if I suspect the coon in the house is a male based on the circuit it has. bobcat gland and urine work great for coon all year also. For fur trapping, I will have k9 gland and or bobcat urine in my cages and around my DP traps The DP mound set or dirt hole sets Always get a gland lure and urine.

Jonesie, Talked of useing K9 gland in cages,at our first school (South Jersey Trapping and Snaring School) years ago.Since then I use K9 gland in all my cages and DP traps.
While I thought I knew how to set a cabe trap. I soon found out that I knew nothing about baiting one. After that demo years ago.

Above or on top of the dp bait and lure in side. Cages in the back and on top with baits and lures or above
