How many days will you guys let DP's sit without a catch? I put out a few Dp's set on heavy sign. I am trying to catch a few to check primeness. First night had a trap sprung and it got wrapped up in brush and pulled out. Second night two traps cleaned out assuming mice did that. Rebaited and set a small rock on the two traps that got cleaned out. Third night nothing. Now I am second guessing myself and thinking it might time to move on to a new location. How many days before u guys move on?

After a week it's time to move on unless the location is producing consistently. I'll leave longer if it's still on my route and don't need the traps.

Try to diversify from the dogproofs to footholds if you can. I'm having the same issue with some coon right now. Trapping next to a corn field and they just dont seem interested in sticking their paw in a dog proof. Tried 2 different baits and still wont hit. Tonight I finally put in a couple long springs and some rank bait. Just need to get them to sniff it out of curiosity and not hunger. Hopefully I'm right. Now I just need to hope the one I set in the water doesnt freeze up.

The weather can be a big deal when it comes to coon movement. I agree with Nd native, use different types of traps find out what is working better. Corn fields can be tuff, a lot of food for them. I use fish in these areas close to the trails they are using. (something different than corn)

Try some fish type bait. See if that helps. I use dp first then goto coil springs. Then to body grip and snares to finish up an area. I was reading on dp trapping. It said your coon catch slows down. Pull r traps your traps wait 4 or 5 days then go back

I had a buddy recently enlist me to trap coons that were coming on his porch and messing with his outside cat, stealing food, crapping on porch, etc. I set traps after they had visited 3 nights in a row. 4 DPs set on their trails in and likely edges. They didn't mess with his cat or get caught in any traps or show any sign for 7 days according to my trap log. On the 7th night they came back and I caught coons for the next 4 days in a row, catching 9 of them total. Now nothing for 2 days in a row.

Is it possible that coon can become trap shy of the dps. Just wondering

I would say that it is possible that some might become trap shy but the majority I wouldn't think would. I'm with the others. If it is good sign and you know it is coon sign set a couple foot holds and switch bait in the D P's also some fish oil or trailing scent might help.

If late season like late december and no action I switch sets but not necessarily locations. I found in late winter coon are not as interested in food but love fox and coyote gland lure for some reason.
One year a bunch of 160s and snares were the ticket. Fresh poo all over big fallen logs in area but couldn't get one in a dirthole, DP, or cage. I started blind setting trails and hammered them with multiple catches in same area. Try something different, works for me if you are confident they are in that location.
Even a big torn up dirt pattern around a DP will make the set better. Take a shovel and scrape a big wide circle around the set so it's all a big flat circle of fresh dirt with a DP poked in center. Give it some eye appeal. Also try the gland lure thing, seriously.
If that dont work get out the body grippers or snares and hit the trails.

Seems if I put DPs down inside holes or pile duff from catch circles after catches they keep catching if coon are still present. incorporate BGs on trails seems to help too. Big coon aren't dummies!

Common sense catches alot of fur..

Look up the posts of Ron Jones. Especially his buried DP posts. Trappergbus has essentially said the same thing. Bury the DP. Leave enough room for the spring to fire. Use a bait they’ll find tasty. You might also try a pipe dream set baited with tasty coon food instead of coyote bait. Though coyote bait should pull them too

I had one lane that ran up to a barn that would take a coon or grinner about every 6 days. Everytime I decided to pull it I would have something. If I have a coon that is cleaning out a dp I will set a 1 1/2 and that usually takes care of it.
