Do coons move in snow? We had a heavy, wet 1 inch last night and nothing moved. No catches, no tracks, nada. Well, except a possum.

Does snow sometimes shut down coon movement? We still have LOTS of corn standing and the temp was 31 out. No wind at all.

They will still move. Sometimes in mid winter when a warm spell occurs; coon will come out to hunt as well.

Here in Utah in the city atleast. Yes. I could not tell you why. But it appears they like to move around here. I track them along a river bottom that I can access. Here fresh tracks and sign are always present.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

I cant remember who wrote the article but when coons are holed up during a cold spell like down in the teens. When you see the forcast for temps jumping up 10 15 or 20 degrees higher get yor traps out. They start working again for a bit

In early season, they aren't fond of walking in the snow.Later, they will run during warm spells. When the rut kicks in,get out of their way, especially the mature boars.

Was in the low 20s here last night and whipping wind. Took my first coon of the year. Also a few flurries on and off for the last day or so.

Thanks for the input guys. Maybe the sudden cooler temps here holed em up a bit. Maybe I'm just not that good at it yet.

ADC, that is a heck of a highway.

For me, 31 and an inch of snow in October sounds like awesome trapping weather. I would plan my week around it. You could use that snow to scout for some areas with better traffic.

Snow was gone by noon, rain/snow mix for the next day or so. Plenty of mud here to look for tracks.

Rivers and streams are winners for me. I don't see tracks much. But the scat! Oh my the stench of shellfish.

No wonder you Iowan's can stack the coon like you do. I would carpet bomb that trail and dont think I'd sleep at night. Never have I seen a trail like that. Wow.
