I was reading it said after the trap got wet after the dip. It will turn white sometimes. Does it stay white? Pro and cons of it. Does it work and work as good as fmj?

don't do it I have and the smell was horrible even later in time after drying. I stored in totes and when you opened the tote smelled like a fresh waxed floor.

I don't like fmj either but fmj would be better that's what I did last year but did not like the outcome then I had to figure out how to remove the crap off my traps. I think if you waqs to dip and hang in a shed for a few months it may be better but like I said I used it then when dry to touch put in totes and on opening day I was disappointed in the smell. so I think aired out properly it would be better. if I didn't have the option to get them plated I would be using dye and wax to protect my traps.

Dipped and let sit in the open for two days. Smell was gone. Seems to guard well but leaves a shine on your traps.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

No. As long as the dip dries before the trap gets wet it won't turn the trap white. You might have a few droplets of the white stuff come off the trap after a rain. As far as odor, I haven't had any problems with dig ups since I started using it. I hang my traps to air dry outside. I like the stuff.

If a person dipped them let air out for 2 weeks or so. Hang where they wont get wet. Dip in zeps? Why I am coon trapping.

Coonman220, is that you? grin not sure what you meant, but to the OP- I use and like Zeps. I have only had it turn white after BOILING, due to a skunk catch. I dip my traps in Zeps in July/August and let hang outside, covered until season starts. I've never had any problems. [Linked Image]

It worked ok for me for dirtholes, but 1” of dirt covers a lot of sin as the old saying goes. I caught more on standard waxed traps in the pipe dream set. I’m back to waxing everything now.

When I dip them. I am going to let hang 3 weeks. I have to trap coons around a federal fish hatchery asap.
