I hear that this sale may not be held this year with Bruno cancelling after 47 years. Tough to hold a sale with no competition. Anyone hear anything on this?

There was a requirement to have X amount of buyers present at the Fur Table (4). This year with NAFA out of the picture......that is one gone.
Several years back one of the auction houses advanced large amounts for the marten the prior year and drove up prices, when those went and sold the levels were not obtained, and everyone was short, except those that took the money. The Manitoba Trappers association took out a fur buyers licence to make 4 buyers present that year to keep thing going.
Plan B is in the works.....so wait.

That is one reason I brought this up on the Wilderness side.

Did NAFA buy fur at Thompson tables? Did the Manitoba Trappers association but fur at the Thompson Tables sale?

NAFA took fur on consignment for the auction. They had a fur buyers licence . Some people take an advance.( and a lot of people own money...therefor NAFA's little problem)
That particular year MTA bought fur and sub-leased a fur buyer from Saskatchewan to grade it, you can go through $ 50,000 pdq.

It is going to be tough season because that one sale puts 300-400,000 $ into the Christmas stockings for many in the northern communities.

$50,000 isn't that much when it comes to fur buying, if its not your money. It looks like they were skirting around the buyer requirement counting NAFA as a buyer to me. Has TFT spoke to Fur Harvesters about doing the same thing.

Bruno was or is still over in Europe . what contact do you have with Bruno ? He probably has 3000 unsold marten sitting in the warehouses in TO.
He has done a lot of good work for the northerners.
