I'm gonna make my own wood stretchers and was wondering what you guys prefer, solid wood stretchers or adjustable. I'm gonna make them mostly for fox but gonna still make a few for coons and coyotes too.

I made a set of adjustable for coyote from the plans in the archives really like them and easy to make. For coon I use wire stretchers that I put plywood bottoms on.

I like the adjustable for mink. The method would probably work well on others.

SPLIT boards are great for drying pelts and removing them, no belly stick to forget. But, they need to be used properly. Pelts should only be spread to the shoulder width for the grade size then stretched for length. Consistency in this regard is accomplished by marking your base spreader accordingly.

I prefer solid wood stretchers for smaller furbearers and split board for wolf.I use both solid and split for cats.
