Has any one used a persimmon based bait? I can’t find hardly any coyote sign In the last two weeks, my traps are 0/11 days using last January’s travel patterns. But I have noticed that if I find scatt i find persimmon-seeds. I’m wondering if I need to change things around and find a fruit based lure/bait. At this point I would like to see a possum in trap! Thanks for any advice.

I guess you could stop by a grocery store and get a bottle of anise extract to add a drop or two per set.

Persimmon trees that are dropping fruit are magnets for most 4 legged critters in the woods. Might I suggest that you locate some persimmon trees and make some sets nearby. I have caught or taken all manner of critters from deer on down around persimmon trees. Caught this yote yesterday in the edge of a hay field on a T-bone set about 40' from a huge persimmon tree that is dropping. It is hard to find a persimmon on the ground because the critters keep them cleaned up. I could not see any tracks in the field or or the strip of woods but I knew the critters would be coming to the area for the persimmons. Location, location, location....

yes, works well, and doesn't matter if ya have the trees around or not, THEY LIKE IT.
same with figs, like Blackies Base.

.....just like muskrat or mink smells, even if none in your hood, yotes go to it!

Agree - never tried it for trapping, but smoked a lot of deer in a small persimmon grove during bow season before the Forest Service clear cut the area.

I think Mark June has a canine lure which contains persimmon taste/flavor.
