Curious if you have any good tricks to defrost a fur freezer. I want to get rid of some ice buildup. I ran my freezer all summer, so I didn't defrost it this year.

I don't want to scrape it because I'm afraid a person could puncture the freezer!

I think I may have an air leak because it's particularly icing up in 1 spot.

Put some Pails of boiling water in it and shut lid. Defrosts them pretty quick

What forester said. Put everything outside, put a couple pails of boiling, or near, water in it, close lid.

If there is a drain, open it. If not, mop all the melted ice out after a bit.

Sure beats trying to chip it all out and not damage anything.

If the interior is metal you can hit the ice with a rubber mallet and remove the chunks of ice. They should fall off. You may have to unplug it for a couple hours first to allow the ice to come off the metal. Air leaks in a freezer create snow where the moist air comes in.

The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

If you have one of those halogen lights just place It Inside and close the lid It won't take long to get er done. Best way I have found Is to set a 5 gallon bucket up side down In side and set the light on top. You could even get away with just hanging a 200 watt bulb Inside It just takes longer.

I just got done doing mine this week end. Mines in the basement I just shut mine off and take a box fan and lay flat so it blows into the freezer. After about a hour I took a plastic putty and started popping sheets of frost/ice off the walls.
