I'm new to bodygrips and thinking about trying out a dozen or so Sleepy Creek 600's (160 series) on the raccoon trails. Does anyone have experience with these particular traps or any Sleepy Creek conibear-style traps? I'm wondering how they compare to Bridgers, Belisles, etc.

They'll work fine.

I like mine. The 160's have 220 springs, irc

110's were junk and I didn't think much of their 330's either, wouldn't buy another one so I don't know about the 160's.

They were modeled after the older Northwoods bodygripper which I wasn't entirely fond of (Im not sure why, the jaw bends?). I ended up with a bunch of SC 110s and use them, like said before, They work good for me.

I like their coilsprings but not the body grippers. The 110's were the worst I have used. You could slide the tips of 4 fingers between the closed jaws. Not good for quick kills and weasels would slide out od them. There are so many better choices.

If I was in the market for new 160s for raccoons, I'd spring for Belisles. I would prefer 220s if they are legal on land.

I think Sleepy Creek went out of business.

AJE, you're right. They have stopped production, but several of their distributors still have traps in stock. Some of the Sleepy Creek traps are being offered at a 'closeout' discount, which is one reason I am considering them.

From what I'm hearing, most folks who have experience with the newer Bridger body grippers and the Sleepy Creek body grippers prefer the Bridgers. Of course, Belisles are considered an upgrade from both.

I find the 700 to have a slightly different shape/dimensions than a traditional 220. The way some measure a SC 700, they deem it legal on dryland here. But it might be up to each Warden's interpretation.
