Greetings!
[Linked Image]
As you can see our dog got the wrong end of a porcupine while checking traps near a fallen down house yesterday! Now WE WANT TO TRAP HIM! What sets or bait do y'all recommend for trapping porcupines? Any help is appreciated!
Thank you,
AuthorTrapper, Texas

Hope he heals up quicky!

I've caught them off coon bait, but I hear lots of others say salted apples work well.

Anything salty has worked for me. Even your favorite pair of leather boots!

Salt brine soaked branches in cage traps along travel trails and blind trail sets.

I use salted apples. This summer I soaked some old leather in salt water and let it dry. Ants like to get on the apples when it is warm.

I urinated on a set once. In all seriousness, a porcupine happened into it within a day. I can't say for sure that the urine brought him in as the set was at the base of an apple tree.

Caught a big one today in a dirthole set for coyote, must have been the urine on the backing.
