How do you clean up the arctic fox?

Good going on the townfox sonny. We have the same “problem” here this year. There was even two that would scratch around my freezers and sit on the steps. There was 2. Ill reset for the other one tonight when everyone is sleeping. I have a few traps set around the edge of town too. Getting 3-4 a day. Glad I’m catching after 2 years of leaving fox alone

On my best day I got 8. I think I have 8 more to thaw and a few smart ones left to catch close to town.

Can you all show me how you set for Fox this crafty one is really outsmarting me. Pics? I’d like to try a different assortment of things he’s avoided snares conibears snapped off foot holds and I just missed him 20 minutes ago on my ride around by inches with my .22

Sometimes I wire a bait to the tree and set my trap further back than normal. He pulls and forgets to watch where he’s stepping I guess. A second trap set blind can also do the trick. Sometimes I leave the main trap exposed and cover the second which is the one that will get him as he sees the exposed trap.

Unusual set. I call it my front yard set. Check it through the window. Best to set this one at 2am and leave it unset all day after pulling the fox out around 6-7 am.

Thanks. So goes the life of the town fox trapper. I’ve caught a bunch using “town” bait like empty pizza boxes, chip bags and pop cans too.

Can any of you guys suggest cold weather fox lures I can use my sets aren’t attractive enough with just bone and fur and I have no lures at the moment

Little dab of ukruk will bring them in for miles. Hard to beat a chunk of fish.

Don't the reds chew up or kill the whites?

Marten trapper yeah they kill whites which is one reason why I try to target reds.

Had to put my girlfriend to work on a few of my catches.

Haven’t been taking pics of my catches lately. I been averaging 2-4 Fox a day. I probably have about 30- 40 Fox.

Any woman who will carry the catch is a good woman!!. Maybe she needs to do some trapping too!

I’ve got a lot of thawing and skinning to do in the next week. Been hitting them hard lately. There’s 29 frozen in the picture and I have a total of 41 all together counting the skinned ones. By the end of the season I expect 200.

Nice! You catching them all in foot holds? Had a buddy up by Dead Horse that used boxes and 330's, nailed a lot of Arctic fox. Hope you make that 200 mark!
