I made them just like Clint Lockerd made his. But mine is 3/4 inch rebar. It was free. I am going to use on coons. I made them almost 5ft long. Just to see how they work. Anyone has any pointers?

More than enough . It was all free. I am going to pick up some 1/2 and 5/8 before welding class tomorrow.
Make the coons ones 4.5 ft 1/2
Coyote 5ft 5/8.

I went by today and got 5/8 5ft rebar to make some. How far do I need down from top to welded loop on pole? How far do I put support wire down?

How far do I hammer them in ground for beaver ? I have 3 different new places to catch beaver? Do ya use short snares on kill poles?

A lesson learned by me this season. Whatever you think is enough double it! Depending on your bottom go 18 to even 24 inches deep. Or more.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

for beaver yes. Make sure the cross is under the water.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I haven't had time to build the shorter ones. I am going to use my 5/8 5ft coyote poles. I didn't put a cross on them should I? All new to me?

I'm intrigued by the cross idea for beaver.

Then I’m totally nuts, because they’re great. They serve as beaver snare entanglement AND/OR slider anchors. There are many options...lured, blind, lethal torpedo sets, etc etc. 1/2”x60” with 12” crosspiece is my preference.

Excellent beaver ADC tool.

Well I never have found a beaver job where I couldn't find a stick to drive In the bottom. Why make this beaver trapping harder then It already Is. A axe and a pre made drowner cable can be anchored on the bank and out In deep water and let that beaver haul that snare down the cable and wrap up on the other end.

As to coon I haven't snared too many but lots of times that coon Is going to be body caught and a kill pole Isn't going to do the job. Well It may keep It wrapped up but for the most part It's not going to kill It. Body caught coon aren't what we want to happen.

When I get time going to make a few dz for coon and beaver. I like the set up. Stake, snare support, all in one.

That's kind of what I was thinking, that they may have multiple advantages, but some seem to disagree. I was thinking of trying something like Aix says, but I was thinking of shorter than 12" cross piece(s). Do you weld more than 1 crosspiece on the rod, Aix, and at what depth do you attach the cross piece(s)? I might try a few, just see how I like them. I'm not ready to go hog wild and make tons of them by any means. I have an appointment at a welding shop this weekend, so I might get a few made up then.
