What is the best thread for sewing a cut from fleshing in a hide? I will be sending the hide in to be tanned.

Asking for a friend, of course.

Waxed dental floss has always worked well for me.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I’ve got an old spool of gorilla braid and prefer it over anything else I’ve tried. I also prefer using my sewing awl with the bent needle and the lock stitch that they recommend.

I use the same thread taxidermist uses on capes or any strong nylon thread will work just be sure to cut out the red rim on any bullet holes or wounds I then run in a little borax just because.

Just remembered - I have an old spool of artificial sinew I got from Tandy Leather Co. back in the 70's.
I'll have to try that... It's nylon, but you can split it int smaller threads just like real sinew.

That's what i ended up using. Just have to tie good knots or sew the tails under to hold them well.
