Let’s get a thread going for someone to learn everything about catching cats in boxes. Me personally, 220 boxes baited with deer, rabbit, grouse or beaver scraps. Or elevated 280 boxes. Gusto or some other skunky call lure. And feathers for a visual attractor sometimes

I have boxes but we can't use them here with BGs due to lynx. I still use the boxes but I use footholds in front and use the boxes to house bait and I also smear a rub lure along the lip of the box. I make a walkthrough set out of it. Zagger trap bedding. Trying to appeal to anything the cat might be interested in. Basically throwing the kitchen sink at them.

The only cat I've taken so far this year was in a Zagger pipe set baited with Hiawatha. Blocked it hard and made it a walkthrough.

I cant use a 220 here. But I do use 160s. I have taking them in square buckets and wire cage cubbie sets. I baited with fish or rabbit or deer meat pieces.

You pretty much covered it. Cats will stick their heads right in the buckets. I preferred frozen or dry drainages. Have the bucket at eye level. There wasn’t anything too difficult about it. I’m sure plenty are caught each year targeting coons.

Interesting.
To get them to poke their head in, I'm thinking the bait should be close to the conibear in the cubby. I'll probably look for some spots this might work, where the terrain allows for it to be naturally set near their head level.
