I have picked up a few in dp. But most in 160s in trails . Snaring a few. I will go to blind sets with SC #11 next. Any ideas how to catch them? There is so much live food they wont hardy work dp. Now there getting wise to the 160s. Any sets I could try besides blind sets? I just started using lure with them. Moonshine, outlaw raccoon all call.

Gland lures: mink, fox, whatever, as well as curiousity lures on scent posts will work great, especially late season.

I bought some R&M grey fox gland lure to try. I bought it on sale. I bought 6 1oz bottles. Do I put on the inside of dp?

Gland lures are more for them to sniff rather than eat so I would think a coon would smell it and not really be interested in working a dp long enough to get caught. Take a stick, couple inches in diameter and about a foot or so long. Bury one end a few inches into the ground so it won't fall over easily. Rub a little gland lure on the stick and bury #11 a few inches out in front of it, try to leave ground natural looking. You'll catch coons and foxes..and maybe even coyotes and bobcats if they're in the area.

Hows the success?

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

Slow. Rain and more rain. Waiting on all the rain to pass to set the #11

Find the trails coming into the hatchery area and set as far away as you can find trails. Use your 160s. Also, try burying the DPs. Dig a hole 4-5 inches deep and about 4-inches wide so the spring can go off without binding. Use any bait you want. Coon will work a hole better than they’ll work an exposed DP because they’re used to working holes.

coon market sucks. i am guessing your getting paid to remove them? selling the carcasses? otter problems? id snare those coons. its fast and easy. set a bunch of them. snares are very effective coon traps when your not worried about fur damage. dps are popular because they are fast. you can have 150 of them in the back of a pickup set and baited. have every one in a likely spot in 8 hours. no way you make that many sets with foot traps that fast. so even though dp's will catch fewer coons per trap you come out ahead with volume. these coons need to go. dp's are not the trap of choice to clean them.

Nope not getting paid for it. I get to trap the other animals around there. Bobcats coyotes otters muskrat. I dont know if its legal to sell the carcasses? I give them away mostly. I found out why my catch is down. Up in the woods there is a places with the dead fish. Looks like 6 or 8 55 gal barrels of dead fish dumped. The lake is turning over. The fish kill is bad there in the hatchery. I like the new snare supports. I am using got to get some more. Can use my kill poles on them too. I really enjoy snaring the fur.
