Would like to get some more experienced thoughts on this and maybe someone has done this before. I have a farm I can start trapping but the farmer requested that I do not check traps on Sundays because of their religious beliefs. I would need to pull traps Saturday and reset Monday. Would this be something worth trying or not? Maybe try it for a couple weeks? It's more time required to trap but I think the biggest setback would be my scent being there pulling and resetting traps.

I would tell him that God blessed him with predators, enjoy them! No way would I jump through those hoops!

Depending on the number and types of sets, it’s doable. If setting dogproofs, just set them off on your last check day. If they get robbed, just refill and reset on Monday. If setting fox coyotes and cats, just set them off and reset on Monday. No need to pull unless requested by the farmer.
Depending on the distance from your house and the other farms you trap in the area, you may not be having to mess with too many for the remakes. Go for it.

What is your trap check requirement? What are you trapping for? Once per calendar day. Canines and raccoons mainly.

Cover the traps and then pull whatever the covers are off instead of remaking sets. Good idea. What would be something suitable to use as a cover?

I've also laid a couple of small sticks or rocks at the outer edge of the set trap and then set a large rock on them to cover the trap without setting it off.

I like the sticks and rocks idea. Think I'll give it a try for a couple weeks. Caught a red fox on a neighboring farm Thanksgiving day. Thanks to everyone for the tips. Goes to show that experience has no substitute.

Would this be something worth trying or not? Maybe try it for a couple weeks? It's more time required to trap but I think the biggest setback would be my scent being there pulling and resetting traps. I think it comes down to what you think is worth it. If you're just trying to trap I can tell you even only five days a week the traps are in the ground they will catch more than traps in your shed. I don't know the laws in Maryland but if we hit some ridiculous weather or I have a commitment I can't get out of I simply set the traps off until I can get back to them then just redo them. Personally if I was trying to put up numbers I'd just set the farm next door and forget it. If it was when I am just messing around close to home to keep me busy I don't think I'd have any issue popping them off and resetting them. Personally I don't even cover the traps/sets when I do it and I have first night catches when things are remade but if you have the ability to do some of the things mentioned above it would probably keep your time/costs down.
