I tore the belly accidentally when taking the pelt off the board and turning it fur out. Now my question is should I try to soften it and sew the tear or just leave it? Its right in the white of the belly and about 6” long.

If your shipping to auction or selling to a buyer, re-hydrate the torn area only and sew it up.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I'd sew it up also, t make a damp towel and lay it on the effected area until it's softened up enough to deal with .
Aren't they fun to work with turning fox pelts is quite the challenge at times I hope it works out for you.

I've got the same problem to deal with today, but mine is torn up in the arm and armpit area. Then the next question is how would you turn it back fur side in so you could sew it up? Do I need to re hydrate the entire pelt?
Thanks Griz
