I messaged his niece on facebook. This is her response:

"Hi Kevin, that was my Uncle John. He became ill and passed about a month ago. Thank you for reaching out. I was just looking at some of his songbird photos yesterday. So very talented. If you would like to reach out to my parent's you can find my mother, Susan Weber. They would love to hear from you!"

Oh no......Ive been thinking of him for a while now....I have enjoyed his stunning photos from the first day I became a member of the Tribe.

I was afraid his health was failing when he stopped posting his photos.

Your history serving on submarines in the military , as a biologist , working with Cornell U ...a trapper, will forever be with all those who benefitted from your knowledge. I am so glad I had the chance to meet you years ago at the PA NTA . Because of you, is where I got my signature to friends, " See you on the surface"........

We of the Tman Tribe who knew you, will miss you, Jonathan.

Thank you , Kevin , for finding out and letting us all know...

I had, literally, just done a Google search of our old Cyber-Pal Jonathan. I was returning to post a thread telling that he was gone. Sad day for Tman folks, he sure brightened things up for us.

So much beauty and peace seen by his eyes, recorded for us in his pictures.
I am very sad.

What a shame, as Jonathan was one of the main reasons why I joined this forum, as I loved his nature pictures and his perspective on life.
Jonathan was a very special unique individual who will be missed by all but shall live on forever though his art, and though the memories of those who knew him.
Thoughts Prayers Love and Hugs.

N/E Il. NOT Chicago!!
Only being here a short time myself, I had just run into his posts and pictures. His posts were of great interest to me as we shared very similar interests. I suspect I know what great lengths he went to in order to make some of those great captures. I feel a loss at not getting to know him better.
Jonothon: May you capture that perfect beauty that eludes us all.

Jonathan's passing is a huge loss for out Trapperman community.

You can see much of Jonathan's lifes work of pictures and videos of wildlife at:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/86332012@N00/

There are 88 pages of his excellent art photography and videos. Hopefully his website will stay up forever.

As others have said, this is a great loss to the Tman community. His posts were thought-provoking, interesting and entertaining. And his pictures were excellent. I always clicked on a post when Jonathon was the author.

Thanks for posting his obituary Tommie.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.
John Donne

Jonathan had some roots is Wisconsin he talked about.

His pictures were a reflection of a very thoughtful, intelligent, and nature-bound person. He enriched all of our T-Man lives through sharing his art and appreciation of nature. I will miss him but I would also bet he is crouched down in a brushy thicket with birds of all kinds fluttering around and picking seeds from his hands...with a big smile on his face.

Hope to meet you on the other side some time Jonathan!

Sending prayers to his family and to his second family here on TMan.
I always was in awe of how dialed in he was with his camera and nature.
His photographs and his world seen through the lens of his camera will be missed as will he.
Thank you for the memories, Jonathan.

I've made an archive page where his pictures and comments will be preserved - https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/47/1/in-memory-of-jonathan-weber

I have a lot more of his posts to move there yet. It's not complete.

Thank you, Mr Paul, for doing this. I've thought of this all day...as his info in sheer abundance is so valuable , from all the pages already saved in the archives, to where his posts started in '17 to recently.

There is so much of his life there in rich treasures.

It is a mighty thing indeed that his memories and mind are so preserved in this forum.

Life through the eyes of the artist, in full right brain usage, as he loved describing it.

Gather them all up as precious gems , Mr Paul. Thank you.

This is really sad to me. I so looked forward to seeing his posts and regret the times I scrolled by them because I was in a hurry. Jonathon's heart was as great as his photography. I know all will miss him.

The tribute page is a great idea Paul. Thanks.

Thanks bossman Paul!
It says something of a man when it gets to be multiple pages of kind thoughts from people who mostly never physically met him missing his communications. I first "met" Jonathan over on Wild About Trapping, although he didn't share much of his photography on that site. I've certainly enjoyed his posts and his art on Tman.

I physically met Jonathon before I ever got to know him on here. Way back in 2004 I still lived in NY and had posted some traps for sale on the NY trappers forum. He replied and I found out he had just moved to the next town over from me from WI. He came to my house and bought all of my muskrat sized traps I had for sale. After that, I got to know him much better through his posts on here, although I never saw in him person again after that first day.

Well another chapter is complete in the cycle of life.
Guess that meeting him ain't on the bucket list anymore..
Wonder when the posting were slowing down what was happening....going to miss all those PM's of what's this bird
It was always guaranteed he would ask when no bird book was around to look up references.
Thanks Paul for pulling things together.

Well that just sucks.
After reading all of the kind words in this thread, and thinking about the fond memories of his upbeat posts, it is starting to get easier to accept his leaving us.
I never met him, nor ever posted on any of his threads, but I always sat up straight in my chair when I saw one of his threads pop up. I always knew that it was going to be a good one.
He knew a lot about birds, but never came of as a know-it-all. The truest of gentlemen.
What a great idea of Paul to create an archive page of his posts.
THANK YOU!

I just started checking out his work, it's simply awesome.

So I will enjoy what you folks have pointed me towards and pass along a simple and heartfelt condolence to all affected.

I did not know him until now since I just joined the forum a short while ago. My loss but thank you for the links to his work.

I like everyone else here certainly enjoyed each and every picture and post of his I think of him every time I see a bird we don't normally get in this part of Montana today it was a pair of blue jays at the bird feeder here at the house.
As I mentioned in the other post Jonathan's pictures helped me keep my mind occupied during chemo treatments and for that I'm going to be eternally grateful .
Rest in peace !
Allan

I lost my younger brother a couple months back, found out about Jonathan yesterday, and found out to day that close friend my age, passed a couple weeks ago. When I listened to Vince sing that song …. well, it opened the flood gates.

RIP all of you and may God bless all that are left behind.

Thank you for doing that Paul. I was just thinking it would be nice to post some of his pictures occasionally. You're ahead of it. Today I am sad for the loss of an old friend I'd never met. It's another reminder that time marches on.

Thank you for everything over the years Jonathan.

Sorry to hear this. He was a lover of nature and his photography was a testament to that.

His capture of bird behavior is what set him apart. I am very touched to have a framed Ringneck photo of his to look at.

Jonathan seemed like a very kind and gentle man. Any question I ever asked him about certain birds was answered quickly and without hesitation. He had some stunning photos and will surely be missed.

Today while out scouting a new ranch for setting snares on I seen 4 golden eagles and 5 bald eagles in just over 250 miles round trip I asked myself what kind of wonderful pictures those all would of been.
