ya'll aint the only ones I have been doing so much research since last season and reading everything I possibly can and thought this is the season I really stack up some coyotes and ive gotten one female and that's it. short line only half dozen traps out for k9 and a dozen dog proofs. got one possum and one skunk and one yote so far. things will get better I know that and just keep checking traps I have a week off over Christmas and hope to get 30 more sets in the ground. I hope to have good weather that week but I will be going hard at it regardless of the weather. good luck guys and never give up.

Apparently the coyotes haven't been reading the same books or watching the same videos as I have as they don't seem to follow what's all been said and written about them.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I was just thinking us trappers must really enjoy a challenge or we have a perverted idea of fun... or both. The pay back for all the thinking and work we put into this is really quite low compared to a lot of other stuff. I don't golf but I feel I would stand a better chance of hitting a hole in one of I did golf than catching every coyote that walked past my set in a season.

Trapping was explained to me as a numbers game...the more traps you have out, the more chances you’ll have of catching critters. It was said your “best” trappers catch 15% of their line. Good trappers catch 10%. And your part time trapper catches 5%. Don’t know how true that is, but I’m always happy if I can get 10%...which isn’t often, lol.

This is the first year I’ve trapped in early December. I usually don’t have field work done until after Christmas. Most years i lay into them the first week of January. With the warm weather and moon I’ve ate quite a bit of crow this week. Caught 12 since Monday but was figuring on being in the high 20’s by now. Definitely disappointing but always learning. Good luck

One thing about it with few coyotes and mostly adults I'm learning which are the best locations and which sets work best in which situation . With a lot of pups and high populations it can be somewhat easy to catch them every where with about anything up to a point. Plus it's kind of fun to catch those big males and short toothed females.
