What a BA! Guy can catch more in one day than some myself included have accomplished in an entire season. (I'll b a trapper one day) lol If I can catch his best one day total this season I might have to change my name on here, lol!

200 coyotes in 2 weeks is 1.2 coyotes every 2 hours, all day and night. Six every 10 hrs. I can see why he didn't put it on trapperman. About 14 a day

I seriously doubt if i lifted weights, did calisthenics and aerobic conditioning daily for two years I would be in good enough physical condition to make the attempt. I hope he gets it done. Be a bigger feat than winning the world championship coyote trapping contest several years in a row like he did.

The stuff with SH, WileyE, copy/paste master had nothing to do with the 1000 coyote attempt. It was over the aerial gunning thing.
If you were around back in the beginning of T-man you should remember the great debates between him and BW. You'd open a thread that had 10 posts on it and by the time you were done reading it there'd be 20 more added to it. That is correct it was on the arerial gunning,,,

Same thought I had Steven. That is some great trapping, but if you're working it hard and running 100 sets you should be getting those kinds of numbers.

I've had some big years in my life, but even when I was younger, I would not be able to keep that up all season. When I used to run hard, I'd always end up getting sick and have to spend some days in bed getting over it. Course I had germ magnets around back then, (best years of my life) and they would bring me presents home from school! Talked to Robert this morning again, he got four inches of snow last night. Grrr!

Is he hitting all the feed lots in western Kansas? Seems like all the big number guys I know concentrate on the feedlots. Don’t get me wrong that is smart but I would be curious to see how it would go without a large concentration at feedlots. Still a huge accomplishment either way especially skinning them himself.

Well, I am not a coyote trapper so I'll bow to others better judgement, but I have heard it said what catch rates should be for otter and beaver and I double or triple those #'s on average. And for me those #'s are about 4-5 times the 7% mentioned above.
And yep, there are people who exaggerate a bit here and there keeping in the fine tradition of the mountain men. LOL
But I still find the numbers do-able and believable.

Catch rates are for the average trapper. With a 1000 season goal he obviously has to be well above average in both ability and work ethic.
I hope he meets his goal.

I am insinuating. Come on! Just because your imagination is so limited doesn't mean it can't be done. BTW way he has caught 249 in the last 14 days, not 200 and he aint the first guy to ever catch numbers like that in the same time period.

Mark June, in his book on coyote trapping, says the best have difficulty maintaining a 7% catch rate. That's 7 coyotes/100 trap nights. I'm not trying to be cute, but I've got 45 years in the hole. I was told by a very wise man a long time ago: Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see and you'll be a lot better off! Forgive me. It happened despite your insinuating my trapping friend. Your "45 years in hole" have been for nothing on this topic brother.
