White Crown Sparrow that is laugh

Although we miss Jonathan lets not forget his wit, humor and knowledge. He told me several times the White Crowned Sparrow was one of his favorites to photograph.

Nailed one today;
Oh Wait; I was on a Christmas bird count;
and my nailing one was for the day list, which for this time of year is a very late non-migratory bird, but he did keep company with his cousin.
The White throated Sp.

I know for a fact that only Sharon is treated to Golden Crown ( Northern Harvest CC)

Nice capture!
It is getting rare to see the native sparrows here. Cowbirds may be responsible for that. I have seen little chipping sparrows on the ground here with young cowbirds following waiting for food.
I have seen a couple of native sparrows this year so I hope they do make a comeback.

A fun bird to listen to in late spring early summer around here. Seems like they're everywhere. Do they show up a feeders in the winter?

Thanks for the pic. It would be nice if somebody like you would post bird pics like Jonathon did. wink I opened his posts every time I saw that he made one.

I followed Jonathan on Flicker for several years, as a avid birder it was always nice to see birds from a different part of the country. I got into bird photography originally to help myself identify birds and later as a way to document rare and unusual birds I came across.

Beauty of a shot, Tray.

So nice to see these quality photos surfacing again ....in tribute to Jonathan's legacy.
