How do you know when a coon is done on the stretcher? They always seem to be wet/greasy...
Thanks Griz

I've gone with when the nose is very firm or hard, I also rub them down with sawdust after wiping them with a old towel hang them from the tail to help keep the inspection window from getting overly greasy if you need to bag them keep them separate from any other furs I had a old fur bag just for raccoons.

Well this one is going to get tanned. I try not to catch any coon in this market and if I do I usually release them. This one had some foot damage and I have a guy that want's a wall hanger. If going to the tannery one should not cut the inspection window, correct? Hard nose then wipe, got it thanks!

Ok since you want a wall hanger no inspection window in the belly then it just depends on what the two of you have decided on for a finished product.
Do you want a lay out rug if so split it up the middle the possibilities are endless I wouldn't put it on a stretcher if it's going to be tanned .
I'd let the taxidermist split the eyes lips ears and nose so then they can't say it's not be done properly.

Na he just wants it tubed. It's a buddy that pretty much has one of everything I've ever caught lined up on his wall (besides a bobcat). It's kind of cool and I've sold a lot of tanned furs to people that have seen and committed on his wall. I have never sent anything to a tannery that was "fur in" though. I get the keep it seperated from other furs part, no taxidermist is going to needed but was wondering if there was anything else I should know before I send it to the tannery.
Thanks Griz
