Would someone in Tennessee, please help.
My son lives in Tennessee, and wants to start trapping.
So I am going to send him some equipment.
He wants the MB 550 offset traps. But I looked at the Tn regs,
Could not tell if regular offset could be used without rubber jaws.
Any help would be appreciated

The Tennesse regs i found on the Trappers education online page have this statement. "Steel Traps
Cushion-hold traps, laminated jaw traps, off-set wide jaw traps, off-set laminated jaw traps and wide jaw traps with an outside measure of jaw spread that is 9 inches or less, as measured at the widest point and a minimum jaw thickness of ¼ inch, may be used for all sets. Double-jaw traps with an outside spread of 9 inches or less of the upper and lower jaw combined and a minimum jaw thickness of ¼ inch may be used for all sets. "

Regular offset traps seem to be fine as long as they are over 1/4" thick which 550's are. Now This information was not gotten from the 209-2020 regs manual as i cant seem to fins any information from that at all about actual trapping regulations. I am sure Tenn. trappers will pipe up on here though and let you know the ins and outs. I just like to research other states regulations and help out when i can.

It used to be that we could only use rubber jaw, but we can now use laminated and cast jaw traps (minimum 1/4" thick) in both offset and closed jaw traps. The MB550 is legal in all configurations, cast closed jaw, cast offset jaw, and rubber jaw.
