I don't think I will have enough of my bait I use that I make in the off season, due to more sets and more properties than expected. Soni have to use it conservatively and make it stretch. Was wondering what are some other cost effective options? I tried cat and dog food before. But didn't think it was all that effective.

Dog food with hot cocoa powder poured on it and a few drops of Caven's Moonshine lure. Been the ticket for me this year.

I mix up cat food in 5 gallin buckets with some raccoon lure and coon potion powder packets depending on flavors. I make a more berry/fruit based version and a fish/crawfish version as well. Just depends on time of year and whats working as to which buckets i use the most

Coon are omnivores. They’ll eat everything listed above, plus thousands more. But you have to get them to reach in. A couple drops of liquid smoke dribbled into the DP. Or a couple drops of most lures on top of that bait will encourage them in. Lots of coon lure manufacturers suggest putting a couple drops of their lure on the rim of the DP. This works too.

People often overlook how good grape jelly works for coon. I haven't tried it this time of year when it's normally so cold outside though.

I agree. I have used jelly with good success, but I prefer the grape jam in the squeeze bottle. It dispenses much better and doesn't wash out as easily as jelly. It also makes a better glue to hold whatever loose bait I might have in there.
