Hey guys, I’ve got a section of creek that beavers have dammed up. I can’t find any bank dens, but they have feed piles spread out throughout the creek. I put a few castor mounds along the creek where they travel back and forth between the dams. usually this works for me, but none of these sets have been messed with for a few days now. There’s no channels or any obvious spot for a 330. What should I do? Thanks

They’re leaving the water somewhere. Are there crossovers at the dams?

You can make set locations. That’s one of the best parts about beaver trapping.

I find it easiest to create locations for using snares, but you can also create foothold and BG set locations....

Use your shovel to cut a small shelf for a foothold, then make what appears to be a crawl out......

If you’re feeling frisky, you can shovel out a pocket to guard with a 330...

Put a little Woodchipper between your 330 and the bank, on a little stick.

If you are only using 330's try making a little mud pie and use some food lure, or a drop or two of sac oil and guard it with a foothold on a drowner . As mentioned you can dig the shelf for your trap and create your own set location where they travel. Woodchipper is a great lure. You can also just use some sticks of what they are eating and scrape them a little to show the white for eye appeal.

Set the dam.

They may be wise to the 330. You may want to go to footholds.

I was thinking footholds. They never get wise to them only the setup they can see or smell. Can you use snares? Can you break the dam? Also they patrol the dam pretty routinely have you tried setting along the dam where when they swim down it they go through?

This or snares

castor can spook them too. I think Woodchipper might be the best beaver lure on the planet
