A few years ago we got a bobcat in a cable restraint, by accident. But it was in season and we were able to keep it. Got it on a power line right of way where we were targeting fox and coyote.

I presume cable restraints are an effective part of a bobcat trappers arsenal.

For guiding I make a V with 2 sticks stuck in the dirt under my snare and block down everything but where I want the cat to go . I prefer 1/16 with a 9” loop but catch them in my 3/32 snares as well

cats can slink through a coyote loop without you ever knowing they were there. sometimes when they try it you get them caught around the abdomen. usually they duck under and the loop is just lying there closed leaving you to wonder what happened. i like a couple grass stems under the loop to keep their head up . too much and they just hop over the whole thing. sometimes. sometimes they go through a loop like a coon. just push right on in and get caught

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Maybe it depends partly on the size of the cat and whether they're walking or running. I gather that they typically ike to WALK around.
