13 In the truck no mange 603 Is the count.

To answer the urine question. Straight urine no additives. A single squirt on the backing, if there Isn't any backing a shot behind the hole.
NO misting of the trap pattern.

That’s amazing I can’t even begin to imagine the work and planning that Robert has into this. This is on a whole other level of commitment. My hat is off to him and I hope he accomplishes his goal. Thanks for the updates Beav.

That urine is good stuff too.. Wont freeze in back of truck on cold mornings. Concentrated and smells like a coyote. About any critter around here checks it out.

Beav. I would like to know when he makes multiple sets at one location is he making all dirt holes and using mushrat only as bait or does he have another go to bait to switch it up? Thanks Digger

What state (states) does he plan on going to next? And how late into the year can he trap?

I text him about a week ago and I got the impression that he was gonna stay in Kansas if he could but he also has a New Mexico trapping license from some previous work so he could go there is he had too. But I might have misunderstood him.

As far as I know when he makes multiple sets they are all dirt holes Same bait and the same urine. He did say when He was coming In behind someone else that he would make some flat sets. He would pick out a conspicuous clump of grass Or If needed he would plant one where he wanted It. The set was blended In and given a shot of urine.

Another thing he told me was where he was trapping In irrigated ground he would target the areas missed by the pivot point. These areas would not have been planed and would grow up In weeds. Great locations.

He's going to stay In Kansas and try and catch the 1000. I believe there isn't a closed season on coyotes In Kansas but once the coyotes start to break down he's quitting. He does plan on going to New Mexico to do ADC coyote work. But those coyotes won't be counted toward the 1000.

We dont have a closed season on coyotes but to be legal you have to release skunks. a furbearer here. fur season closes feb 15. i think he has a good chance of hitting his goal if he doesn't wear down to much

What stands out to this old trapper is what drive and work ethic he must have. Very cool goal.

I’m not seeing many cats in the catch pics. I would think that DH he puts in would take a good number of cats

Trapper Dahlgren, red fox are scarce too except around and in a few towns. Swift fox are common. They are about the size of a big house cat with a long bushy tail. Coyotes kill them whenever they can too. So in a a spot where coyotes are likely swift fox aint.

yes. not big numbers but big coon. most are yellow and ugly. when you get a big silver tipped dandy it will grade with triangle coon

This is a great thread, and more people will start to follow it, I am now that most of my trapping is over for the season.

This is incredible. As a beginner, this is really eye opening on the simplicity that Robert is using to put up these numbers. It is really going to have me not worrying so much about which tub of bait I use to put down the hole.

How is there any small game out west?? It seems the coyote population must be a little on the high side. He will catch more in a bad day than I will in my season, but that is likely due to differences in skill than populations.

Pulling for you, Robert!!

Hardly any coon, lots of skunks and badgers I’d guess he’s catching 1-2 skunks and badgers every day. Not many cats I’d guess about one cat for every hundred coyotes.
