Hey guys, I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this. I was checking some beaver sets today, and found my trap down the slide wire. I pulled it up, and had a really big beaver. However, the trap wasn’t on his foot. We had a lot of flooding, and a bunch of logs and trash must have tangled the beaver up before he could get to the bottom. He somehow got the cable cinched tight around his foot. I’m still wondering how he managed to get caught. I think when the trap went off, it caught him by a couple of toes, but he popped it off. Any guesses as to what happened? Thanks

Probably winched his toes out by winding the wire around his foot. Drowning wires should be taut so this doesn't happen. You were lucky this time.

Caught one by the tail like that once. Wasn't his day guess LOL.

Couple years ago I caught a beaver in what was supposed to be a mink see. I had small twin loop chain on the trap staked and fastened to a small bush. I was surprised when I got there and found a beaver with the chain wrapped around its tail tight and still swimming. It cleared every bush in the area but the stake held. It was a big one also. Wish I had taken pictures, it was odd.
Wish I had more time to trap....
