I'm want to make a good bait solution.
Looking for a good base to start.
Was thanking about a catfish oil or trout oil.
But some people say fish oils will bring in more junk like racoons
And stuff.
I'm making it for my predator baits.

Can someone help me out with this..

Will be making it in a gallon batch.
Thank you..

I'm still learning but I find high quality sun rendered fish oil to be a good attractive for coyotes. As far as attracting skunk, coons and possums it is my belief that any food base product that is highly attractive to coyotes will also be highly attractive to those non targets.

I prefer spoonbill but it's getting hard to find. I've heard good things about trout or catfish but I havent tested them myself. I will say good ingredients are getting hard to find, a lot of products being sold are not the highest quality and it does affect the end product.

The guy I was ordering it has quit selling it. I'm trying to find a new supply of it myself. I'd try putting an add on the trap shed for some. There's a few trappers that make there own and might be kind enough to sell you some. In my opinion its worth it. I was told my a knowing lure maker not to mix it with urine or things will start exploding.

Urine is not in all bait solutions. Good ingredients and many oils will be a universal attractant to most all animals on the prowl for food.

I don't know of many baits or lures that wont attract opossum or coon if they find it.

If you get a chance to snag spoonbill that is your best bet. the males have some huge gobs of fat in their bellies. this is oil from that male belly fat.

i dont get near enough for my own use. we are limited to 6 fish a year and they dont come up here every year.

you can get big gobs of fat in the belly of flathead catfish that renders out a real nice oil too.

the trout oil i have bought has been top notch also

Have you ask your self, WHAT is a bait solution and it's purpose ????? PRESERVE,FLAVOR not just taste but for the nose, MOISTNESS to keep your bait from drying out. To answer your ?, yes i would use a fish oil , sun rendered or cold pressed.

Cold pressed fish oils are not near the quality or smell of sun rendered fish oils as Danny states. Start and use good ingredients and you will be better off with a quality result in most cases.

When I've tested it rendered skunk fat has a fairly low level of attraction but it has its uses.
