My son is trying his hand at home tanning. We have a coyote that is developing a couple dark spots and some slight odor in the flanks. What's the best way to stop the rot from spreading? Will we need to cut out the bad spots or can they be saved? Thanks. By the way, he's using a product called Hide Tanning Formula in an orange bottle.

Best way is to add stop rot but it's unlikely you can get it in time to save the hide. Denatures alcohol can be used, but be careful as it's highly flammable.
