Set a 220 under the ice where beaver and otter were going over a beaver dam. The hole in the ice was just big enough for a 220. I set and anchored the trap , while still standing on the dam I reached for my pack basket to leave, and the trap fired. Before I even looked at the trap I figured a piece of ice sprung the trap. Much to my surprise I had a big male otter in the trap.

I remember the ones that bit me. Stay out the catch circle would be the lesson from that one lol.

Way back in my younger days I caught a cougar and she was a wild one. Sorry no pictures!

First fox and first otter. Both were hard won.

Thanks 330... It was 6 years ago, before I had ever seen one. Still not legal to keep today ! The true Experience was getting it out of trap with no catch pole. That is 45 minutes of my life i will always cherish wink

Caught a bobcat with my 4 year old but the cat wasn’t the memorable catch. My son goes walking around the tree we caught the cat at to get a better view of it when I hear “Dad!!!!!! I’m stuck”. We had a backup set on the backside of the tree that he forgot about. I know he looks like he was crying in the picture, but he wasn’t crying from the trap. He cried because I told him I couldn’t get the trap off and would have to run home to get some tools. Once I told him I was joking he told me to take a picture for mom. An exposed MB550 with Mike Kelly’s expanded pans gives you a perfect catch every time, no matter the species haha.

If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

Mine was my very first coyote on my own line. Trapped with my uncle every year around Christmas on my breaks from school. Spent one season living with him and my aunt and I ran under his permits with him, caught 12 fox and 2 yotes one day (still me biggest catch day ever).

But two years later when I had graduated and got my first job outta college bought me 2 dozen victor #3's, modified them all myself, got some permission from my boss to trap, permits from the DOW. Three days later caught my very first dog on my own. I remember feeling proud as a peacock when I called my uncle to tell him I was doing it on my own now.

Cat trapper nv that's pretty cool story, I have two sons that are 7 and 9 and they both enjoy going to check traps especially the 7 yr old and he kinda reminds me of your son. No fear he'll go right in the catch circle to get a better look at a bobcat or coyote. I videod us once and when momma saw it she wasn't happy with my parental supervision on the line. Lol

My first triple on coyotes. Pulled up in my side by side and saw one in a flat set. Shut the side by side off and could hear chain rattling so I thought I had my first double, but can’t see the other two sets I had 30 yards away on the other side of the point of woods. I walked down the two track and saw two other coyotes bouncing around and I about crapped my pants.

Our family was never much for picture taking. And cell phones were only seen on star trek. This is my only picture of me with my first grey fox. I was about 14 in the late 70s. I remember it well. [Linked Image]
