What's a nice Fox weigh?
I just caught a 13 lb male.

That's a pretty big male.I have heard of bigger but that is the size of the biggest I have caught.

Mine was 10lb so I'd says it's a biggun!

Anything over 12 lbs is a big fox,i've weighed 2 that went 16 lbs,they were huge 10 to 11lbs is pretty common here.

Do reds & greys weigh about the same on average

We don’t have many fox but occasionally I snare one. I only have adjustable coyote and coon boards and a few wire coon stretches. Can I use any of them. We are talking about 1-3. Thanks

Ask this here and you will be told to "get a real board for fox" or "make one, it's not that hard".
I dont get many fox either and have no boards for them. So far this year, I have got one red fox. I have always used a #5 Duke wire stretcher and it works fine. You do need to compress the stretcher a bit so it fits the fox.
If you're interested PM me and I can take some pictures tomorrow of the stretcher I use and the fox I put up on it this year.
Note- if going after fox, or you get a lot each year, it WOULD be in your best interest to get fox specific boards.

Grays run smaller on average and I think Easterns can be bigger.The ones I used to trap,ran from 6 too 9 lbs but I did catch one that was 11 or 12 lbs.Memory fades.

The biggest Red Fox I have ever caught weighed 15.2lbs. Haven't caught 1 that big since. A 13lb Red is a very nice dog fox. I keep weight averages every year here in PA and the current averages I have compiled show the average Male Red Fox around here is 11.55lbs and the average Female Red Fox is 8.98lbs. 13 is huge here, Males average 10 and females 7. My biggest red was 16, years ago and biggest grey 12. They both had full bellies tho. Iv'e weighed a bunch to get an average to set pan tension so I miss the Vixens. 2.5 seems to be working. Trapped the first Grey since 2012 this year, weighed 10.78. Good to see old cranky again LOL..

Takes a big fox to break 10 pounds around here.Once you skin one a person can see why.Lol....not muck left.

Back in the late 70's I caught a female grey fox that weighed 14lbs. Was a bowling ball, front canines worn down to the gum line.

I've caught two that were an honest 14 lbs. each

When I caught my first of the year, I knew it looked big to me. It was 13lbs, the teeth were all worn down

our average is about 12-14lb for both sexes with the odd one been known to top 20lb

I have not caught many but did have one that was between 15.5 and 16 lbs. on my scale and it was huge. From my limited experience I find that greys will weigh a bit less then reds but don't let the less lbs. or two full you when it comes to dispatch. The greys are feisty to say the least!
