I have both. I haven’t noticed any difference in my limited experience

Non offset. You ever see how far open a offset jawed trap becomes when you get a stone or dirt clod trapped between the jaws?

You mean it won't leave a closed jaw trap open?

I read what he said as a closed jaw trap will be less open than an offset trap if a dirt clod or rock gets stuck

I got a ticket in N.M. about 12-14 years ago. I had it coming and paid the fine. Had a bunch of bridger #3 without offset in my box and just figured on leaving them in the box. (not legal to settt in NM) Got to setting traps and set one without thinking about it. I'm checking a couple days later and the game warden is behind me. I stop to remake one a cow had stepped on. (on BLM) I suspect he had seen it already and was waiting on me. So he comes up checks my license, checks the trap tag. He is very polite about it all BTW. So I ask him if I can reset again not thinking about the closed jaws. So he tells me there is a problem and I feel like a real idiot. I told him I had reg the reg and don't know what I was thinking when I set it. Ticket cost me 40 bucks. A good reminder to abide by the regs.

I put those bridgers in their own box when i got home and haven't used them since.

i dont feel like a pebble is more likely to cause a miss with an offset. i have had it happen with both styles of trap. i am a lot more careful now and it has been a few years since the last one

Is there any advantage to offset other than allowing levers to come a little higher? To my way of thinking unless the non-offset parts of an offset jaws are touching during a catch the offset jaws would be applying the same amount of pressure to the foot as a closed jaw trap... if that makes any sense. And from what I've seen from a good catch on a coyote the offset jaws are applying full force and aren't touching jaw to jaw. But maybe I'm missing something.

I bought fully modified #3 Bridgers a few years ago with offset jaws. I’ve had enough pullouts to regret not buying them in closed jaw.

Offsets here as well. If you're having a bunch of pullouts with offsets then you have a greater problem.
