It is not that complicated. The Astros broke the rules. They knew the rules. They got caught and now are getting punished. Every game has rules.
Who is John Galt?

Yup it's cheating. Players looking for tells for a pitch isn't cheating much like a pitcher looking for tells that a runner is about to steal the base.
The Astros cheat get slapped on the wrist, Pete Rose makes a bet and is banned and can't even get in the hall of fame Charlie Hustle just didn't make A bet. He made bets for at least 3 years with bookies with ties to organized crime. One year he was a player/manger who could affect the outcome of the games he bet on or didn't bet on. Major League Baseball's rule about not betting was on a wall in every dugout. He has no one to blame but himself.

If you aren't cheating you aren't trying. And if you get caught, you're not trying hard enough!

I played legion baseball. If you got on second base, you could see the catcher's sign to the pitcher on the opposing team. We would tell our batter at the plate if it was going to be a curveball or a fast ball by calling him by his name. For instance, if the sign was fast ball, we would call him by his first name, "Get a hit, Jim!" A curve ball last name, "Get a hit, Smitty!"
We didn't consider it cheating at the time. Of course, it only worked if you had a man on second base.
Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.
