True story. A co-worker had something killing her chickens. She put out a coon size cage trap. To her surprise, it was a small bobcat & she trapped it in the cage with a dead chicken in the back for bait. Maybe some of you have got them in coon cages before, but I was surprised. DNR gave her permission to have her husband haul it off & release it.

Yeah, she sure made it seem easy. Makes me think I should use a a dead chicken for bait

I thought about checking with some of the local farmers for peeps. The European Starlings are in trouble this year too, at least locally they're going to be providing some numbers just for bait.

Bobcats and Fisher aren't legal in my district WMU yet but they're definitely coming this way (like one district/unit North and also East). I would not have figured a cat would go into a cage trap.

She has me beat, awesome!

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

Best Regards,

JT

Yep, and especially a cage made for coons. Granted it was a small bobcat, but still impressive. I suppose those young ones aren't so smart, then again maybe their mother is usually around teaching them.

Interesting! I'm surprised they didn't want to collar it first.

They seem to have no interest in collaring bobcats outside of those 2 pre-determined geographic areas in Wi.
