Never heard so much crying about having to work 12 hr days in my life. The democrats in the senate are not tuned in to the real world. Seems like most places anymore are working long shifts. I know I've worked many 12 and 16 hr shifts night and day. Just sick of the whole thing and will be glad when its over. Just ranting.

Everybody wants to get paid nobody wants to work today, it’s tough to find people willing to work for overtime even. We are down 2 jailers now an not many good applicants out there to choose from. You want shot at Law Enforcement come out and apply and start out in the jail.

You get to live on the Missouri River with great hunting, fishing and trapping if you live out here and a few hours to the Black Hills.

I'm surprised the Dems aren't asking for time and a half.

The bulk of their time is spent raising money for the next elections not doing their job, they have a place they go to to beg for money because they can’t raise funds from the Capital building.

Many double shifts when I was working.Had a major breakdown at work one time and I ran a 38 hr shift to get it fixed.that was my longest stretch.

How true. You would be hard-pressed to name anything they've accomplished the past 3 years.

I work 4 10s and it rocks. 3 day weekends every week and plenty of time with the family; I get up at 0430 and am home at 1720 every day. Working 5 days a week would blow, bigtime. I'm not sure about 12 hour shifts, it would depend on the hours. In any case, I wouldn't whine and moan about it, I'm a big boy and I could either suck it up or get a different job.

Years ago, my kid had a job where he worked 3 12 hour days (36 hours per week) and 4 days off. After about 6 months, he quit. He said he loved having 4 days off, but dreaded going to work knowing he had 3 days of 12 hours ahead of him. I would have loved a job like that when I was in the workforce. But, this latest generation seems to want higher pay with less work.

All my days are 12hr. and swing shift to boot. Haven't been at it too long, just started my 15 year. As far as overtime, did about 15k worth last year so I guess I do my part.

We have gotten a few young guys on our team in the last 6-8 years that have stayed. Kinda lucky since in other areas they seem to quit in the first year.

I can’t find people to even work a 4 hour day. I’d hate to see what I’d get if I tried hiring for a 12 hour day. It’s insane. As someone mentioned earlier, everyone wants a check, no one wants to work. I’m kind of over it anyway. Have to redo most of what they do anyway. Costs me less money running myself into the ground than it does to send someone else out. 12 hour days are nothing. During our busy season, 16 hour days aren’t uncommon. Since I’m still teaching, I’m still pulling 12 hour days during the off season.

I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

12 hour shift worker and night shifts to. Wouldn't want it any other way, best schedule there is i never work over 4 in a row and get 7 days off once a month. And 4 hours of overtime in each pay period.

Let me sugar coat this
