MY FIRST TRASH PANDA!!!! Can’t tell if it’s a bore or not but I think it’s close to 30 lbs! That traps been out about a week. Started with sardines then added a bit of smelly deer meat I had a few days ago. Was really hoping to catch one before the season was over!!! Doin the happy dance over here! It’s pretty muddy and messed up my pan lol.
New trapper! Really excited to learn!

Thank you! CCO is one of my favorite youtubers! I’ve watched most of his fleshing videos and a lot of his trap line ones as well. He definitely knows his stuff.

Way to go. I remember my first coon when I was a kid. It was huge, way over 30 lbs. I managed to catch it in a victor 1 1/2 long spring. with tin foil wrapped around the pan set in the ripples of a creek. The only reason he didn't pull out (Trap wasn't strong enough to hold him) was because the water froze around the trap and kept it from opening. I hat a heck of a time getting it open myself.
I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.

First update. I skinned it and decided to try the face for the first time and it was a success!!! No extra holes, eye holes are intact as are the ears, or ear, it’s missing most of one ear (from a fight or something) and the nose is still there as well!!!! Oh and it was a bore. Holding up by the nose, not on a board it’s it’s about 42 inches long. I’m so stoked!

It's gonna flesh harder than the possum. You can get mean on this one and it's a good time to learn.
Yeah it was definitely a bit more difficult but once I got it started it went pretty well. The face area is a bit weird though. I don’t have an actual fleshing knife, I have an old knife that my hubby found in the woods with no handle but it was full tang so I made it into a fleshing knife. But no “sharp” edge so getting it started was a little harder lol.

For someone who is new to this , you are doing a fantastic job. Quick learner. I'm impressed. Keep up the good work.
Kudos
Thank you very much, I appreciate that. I really tried to educate myself with videos and forums since I don’t personally know anyone who does this. I also don’t have any proper tools!! Lol. Which has made it interesting. I have an old dull knife for fleshing, a utility knife, arrow and vice grips for skinning, tow strap for hangin and a 4’ Full round pvc for my beam. So I feel if I can do it now then it’ll be a breeze next year with the proper tools!
