Call OSHA before somebody gets killed.

I would make him grind it out and reweld it. Or have someone who knows how to weld reweld it.

A whole lot of grinding and a whole lot of paint makes a "welder" where a welder ain't! In our shop we call that duck shite. I wouldn't trust that weld as far as I could throw the lift! Used to work in a dealership shop before moving onwards and upwards to a welding job and have seen some pretty sketchy stuff on car lifts but that is gonna kill people!

That’s not a weld.

I would not work under that lift. No way. If they forced the issue I would inform them I would be calling OSHA.
Do not get pushed into an unsafe work environment.

Getting it properly welded is cheaper than somebody getting hurt or dead.

There are a lot of cheap Chinese lifts coming onto the market. Buying one that is made properly in the USA is actually cheaper even if it costs more.

Safety first , last and always.

That's really bad for sure, however I have seen weld beads that from a distance look awesome until you got closer and seen a small crack going right down the middle of it because it was the wrong wire or rod to use.

Always should check structure construction out before working under it or around it !
