I bought a bag of organic garden soil at HD to use for dry dirt on remakes after rain, freeze, thaw etc. Bag says it has no chemicals or additives except dirt and some manure. Coyotes and fox are walking right by my sets within 5ft and take no interest at all. I wear hip boots and leather gloves, so could the odor of the different dirt alert them???

Sounds like they’re just not interested. Are they walking by or walking around?

Probably not the dirt's fault. Wind direction or eye appeal my guess

Obviously I’m not there to see what you see, but, I’m guessing it’s not a dirt problem. Be patient, after a heavy rain, snow or a good amount of time, give them a new smell. They’re just not in the mood to check it out right now.

Maybe try rubber gloves instead of leather.

I don't see any benefit of having that manure mixed in.

In my experience if your on the coyotes that manure won’t have an affect. Their isn’t any livestock to speak of in this part of the world, let alone mules. When I was still using dry dirt for bedding I had one reliable spot to get dirt this time of year and that was the entrance to the barn. The mules kept the dirt stirred up walking in and out while the sun kept it dry. More than once I’ve gathered dirt after dark only to have to sift out a few road apples the next day . smirk I knew the coyotes in my neck of the world were used to the smell but the coyotes on farms fifteen mile away didn’t worry about it either.
