My old Wiggy's parka has about had it, so am looking for a new one. I really liked that parka, it was the warmest I've ever had. I see the new ones are north of $400 USD so with the exchange from Canadian pesos and shipping it would be expensive to replace. Is there anything new out there that would compare that a guy could get for less money??

I'm pretty happy with my Striker Ice bibs and parka. Never had a Wiggy's though so I don't know how it compares. I know I break a sweat just riding if it's warmer than 10 below.

Rumors of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.

I’ve got an apocalypse design parka made in Fairbanks with a wolf ruff that I caught on it. Expensive. I have trapped on a snogo at fifty below with it and it’s the warmest parka I’ve ever worn. It’s great for sitting on a lake in the wind and sub zero temps and ice fishing. Probably nothing to do with this thread, sorry I just had to brag.

The Beyond clothing K8 Allta parka is designed for serious cold, but it's expensive too, and that exchange rate makes it even more so. On a lighter note, it's cheaper than the apocalypse designs parka!

I got to wear one of those Apocalypse design parkas for a few winters when i was a race judge on the Quest. Sadly i had to give it back! I would rate the Wiggy's right up with Apocalypse in warmth though.

Cabela's used to have a down parka with wind-stopper. Never been fond of Cabela's gear quality but I have 3 of these parkas and would buy 3 more if I could find them. Very light weight and warm. Came off the line today at 40 below and nice and toasty. I usually only where it when it is colder than 25 below. Too hot to work in and not sure how tough the shell is on them. I carry it with me at all times and can throw it over everything if I get a chill. It packs down pretty small. [Linked Image]
This pic was from quite few years ago but shows the parka

I had an Apocolypse parka made for me 30 years ago. It is still going strong.

At the time, the final selling point for me was that I had it made with 38" long sleeves! As a tall/fat guy, finding sleeves that are long enough on most commercially available parkas is nearly impossible.

My parka has a ton of trapline miles. It has also hunted a few times on Nunivak Island and on the North Slope. Hint: It has bits of musk ox blood on it as well. Most lately, it went to Mekoryuk on Nunivak on "Son #2" for a musk ox hunt a couple of Springs ago...

Pete
