I think that might be a Newhouse snare. Made by Animal Trap Company. I’ve got some (new in the box) in my trap shed. Will double check the next time I am over there. I think you might be right. It seems like possibly in the 70s Newhouse, or actually Animal Trap Company of America was making some Thompson knockoffs.

Thanks guys. I asked Masek about them last night and he'd never saw them. You're right Pete, the amount of old Newhouse still hanging in the woods in defiantly mind blowing. I've been lucky enough to find a little over half a dozen Newhouse over the years on my line. Pretty cool finds to put in the collection and knowing a little about the history all the way back to the 20's makes it even better. Our environment is really easy on iron up here so unless they are laying on the ground, they are in great shape for the age. Kinda like Pete and White17.
