Another year in the books. I set a few traps at my house on an extended New Year's break but always wait until mid-January to take a one week vacation to trap. This year was quite a bummer weather wise but I made the best of it. It rained several times and even got a 2" snow. I caught a record number of coyotes at my house this year by catching nine coyotes on my little eight acres. The coyote catch on the big hunting club that I trap on was 1/3 of what I caught last year. I make a big loop through the property setting most of my traps right beside the two tracks on the property. With all the rain and snow they just weren't running the roads like they normally do. What normally is a few pot holes with water was side to side water and even water running down the roads in some areas. I couldn't set some areas due to the water. I but out about 80% of the traps that I normally set. I was able to catch five bobcats which was about normal. I usually catch two or three fox and caught a big zero this year. Coon and possum count was about normal. I kept one unusually big silver possum that I plan to harass the furbuyer about giving me top dollar for which might be a single dollar. The proportions on this picture just looks weird for some reason. This has to be the meanest cat that I have ever caught. She swatted the catch pole and bit it several times before I was able to get it on her.

This is one of nine I caught behind my house after raining all night. I washed it in the creek and ready for a wagon ride to the barn. After all that I noticed a big scare on its back so it was no good.

A buddy from work sent me a picture on this day of a couple coyotes he got hunting. I had to top him so I send a reply with three I caught trapping. LOL

When they bite the cable I hold the loop back a little, place a stick through cable, when he bites the stick I shove the loop on him.
