It seems a lotta guys on tMan don't use this Strictly Trapping forum, but instead focus on the Trapper Talk forum. To each their own. Sometimes I get curious why many avoid this Strictly Trapping forum. Perhaps they aren't aware of this 1, or don't want to monitor 2 or more forums (the Health forum gets ~no use for example). Maybe they feel they get more exposure on the Trapper Talk forum, which they probably do. It seems like threads can get lost easy on the Trapper Talk forum, since there's such a hi volume of posts there. 'Doesn't matter to me. I've used both. I like both. I find it a tad interesting though.

I would wager because it is more highly trafficked is why most post there.

It's all about people not being able to think for them self and being led around by the media. They want people divided stirring up controversy to sell more advertising and it's working. With all the arguing going on it's chased away most of the solid posters, that why I told you to check the archives for bobcat sets.


I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Think I’m just gonna stick to reading and making my own conclusions on topics. I’ve learned a LOT off this forum and the archives. I wish all trapping related topics were on here but I guess you get more exposure and accolades over on the other forum. This site is like most others, you have folks in their own click, and those will be paid attention to and others not so much.

I think if Paul moved this page up to the top or 2nd from the top, it would get more hits.
By that- When I open to t-man forums, Trapper Talk is at the top of my forum, Trap Shed is second. Trapping Only is in the middle of the list.
I don't think folks scroll down and look around at all the forums available.

I check fur handling forum first then trapping only. Trapping and fur put up is what I'm interested in mainly. I read over trapper talk if I have time.
Very few folks visit the fur handling forum.

This season, thatthere longhaired hillbilly pcr2 got me hook on the Pa. Chat thread.

Trapping information is definitely the reason I came here. I like seeing other people's sets, techniques, and location choices and of course the catches.

It's all about continuously learning and a forum like this helps. Lots of good information here to absorb and apply in the field.

But right now I just need it to freeze solid and stay... cool

It'd work best on the top, Hern. Some folks come to tMan, unaware of the 'Strictly Trapping' forum, & are confused as to why there's not necessarily much talk on trapping. I was in that situation years ago, but I emailed Paul & he made me aware of this Trapping Only forum.

I like the Trapper Talk forum alot, and have learned a ton on it, but there's some jibberish on there. The other day someone had a thread complaining about the hi price & lazy availability of pre-hard boiled eggs at the Supermarket. Some people are quite negative, & possibly have a lot of time on their hands. There's some that I wonder if they even trap. But like I said, I've learned a ton on Trapper Talk & I do like it a lot.

I started looking on Tman again after being away for years. I think it's important to note just how long this site has been around! I've even been around for 13 years apparently.

I can say with gratitude that I learned so much from the tutorial type posts on here. I still see them from time to time, and the format always reminds me of the way those posts were back in the day. Tman shortened the learning curve for me by decades. I made plenty of those posts myself, whether or not I was qualified to do so is up for debate, but I definitely put a lot of time into a few of them. I would guess many of those were lost in the crashes?

As far as picking between the two forums....its a good point. I made two threads this year. One with my fall coyote line (which I thought did show some good location choices if a person knew what to look for) and also a winter bottom edge line (this took a tremendous amount of effort in below zero temps and again shows location). I posted them on the main forum because A)The guys I know from my state would see them after I put that much time into it B) I really didn't think the regulars on trapping only would be interested. It crossed my mind to post them on both but I figured that would just make me seem like more of a jerk than some people already think I am.

Its good to ask questions. It's even better to have non-linear but related conversations (this point leads to this lead to this, but it's all related). That's when people's brains get picked and guys get motivated to share stuff. Those are the conversations where I picked up tips that literally changed how I did things and made me better.

The trapping only forum definitely shows a lot of recent membership.

It takes just a couple of minutes to peruse either forum. If you pose a trapping question, you're going to get answers to your question. I'm a member of a tractor, bowhunting and coal burning forums and they all have subforums where members can discuss things other than what the sites are primarily dedicated to. I don't see it as an issue.

I believe this is why "strictly trapping" was added. It's supposed to be only trapping topics.

I come in here because I know that you will never see James in here. He has never seen a picture of a trap, so no need for him to come in here.
I do find myself changing the way I communicate depending on which forum I am in.
Don't ever try to crack a joke in the Trap Collector Forum. Straight laced bunch in there.

Trap Talk is entertaining (if that is what you want) and Strictly Trapping get's you started on method, equipment and techniques. Both sites have good opinions and not so good opinions so the reader filters through his/her experience to formulate their OPINION. Then they can act on it if they chose and if willing, can provide feedback. The majority of observers are rare to post much but that is kind of who trappers are......................... my take........ the mike

I put most of my posts on "Trapper Talk" simply because of the amount of exposure. When I ask a question, it is usually at the time I need an answer. If the question is put on the "Strictly Trapping" forum, I can take a while to get answers. JMO.
