We sell tons of them all over the world, are they the magic bullet? No; they are another tool that comes in handy in specific circumstances. I won't set a cage with out one. When doing damage work and needing to pull targets to a out of sight area they can be just that little extra.

Well it took 6 preference points to get this tag. I will be sick if I don't fill it.

Unless these are new and improved, you have to weather proof them.I've seen pictures where guys cut the bottom end off a plastic 2-liter pop bottle, wired or duct taped the bottle horizontal in a tree and set the call inside. When these first came out I bought 4,took 2 and duct taped them to trees at 2 individual sites. This was in Dec.,never thought about moisture being a problem.Got a big snow and it filtered thru the speaker and there went both calls.

Set a few traps in a likely spot . Then blow a few cries on a open reed mouth call before you drive off. Often coyotes within earshot will go check it out when it gets dark.

Cause I did that exact same thing couple weeks back and it worked. I wondered if anyone else tried that. Have to do more often now.

Check your regs on unattended electronic devices. That is the wording they use in this state.

I figured they'd be illegal, but I read our trapping regs 3 times the other day & couldn't find anything about them in the regs.

Grit guy on here makes them. They will call predators in from a long way then your set will close the deal or not. They have three or four prey distress sounds and are activated when it gets dark or you tape over the optical sensor. The other type I have is an always on or off (push button switch) type that makes a random bird/rodent chirping sound. For those that are thinking GIMMICKS all I can say is the sound quality of the “fur finder” is as good as a lot of the Ecallers people use to hunt with. I use the rabbit distress or bird distress on the fur finder above as high as I can put it. The chirping one goes in a ziplock then down a deep dirt hole with a wad of grass and a mouse or some prairie dog on top of it. I usually keep the electronics for catty locations and use traditional stuff for the K9 sets. I can’t quantify their effectiveness but I don’t regret buying them and using them. I can buy a dozen fur finders or two dozen chirpers with one cat pelt. That makes economic sense to me.

I am impressed with how they sound. I see the one F&T sells is a Wisconsin company. Seems like $20 well spent. In this cold, I'm unsure how long the batteries will last. We always hear how good of eye sight animals like bobcats have. I wonder how good they can hear

I think cats have a very well developed sense of hearing especially the higher frequencies . When hunting rodents like wood voles I think their ears are at least as important as their eyes.
