An otter was caught in a cage trap at one of the places I trap.
Do otters leave main waterways and just go out searching along the wet areas between waterways? And are they always aggressive? They seem so peaceful in the water, lol! Normally a cage trapped animal wants to get away from you, not go into attack mode.
I also didn’t know otters could jump...up in an ATV.
The manager sent me a little clip of the otter this morning, then when he let it go it ran straight for the Ranger and jumped up in it, lol.
We don’t kill them out there as they pose no threat to the quail.

Nah, haven’t had the need or been asked yet. Don’t have any water traps anyways. I know they won’t allow body grip traps on the plantation anyways. If one of their high dollar dogs got caught they wouldn’t be too happy, lol.

It looks quite ornery. Thanks for posting. Caging otters is tricky I hear.

These traps are set for coons/possums. This wasn’t near any water except mud puddles along a road. End up catching 1 or 2 a year in them. Don’t know if they are moving between wet areas or what. Pretty cool though. They get released.
