I've been pretty successful the past 5 years catching coyotes and I've caught two black ones but today I pulled up on my first red one. I think she's a very pretty one, and I know the market for them is not great so I'm planning on tanning it and putting it beside my black one [Linked Image]

Caught her in a step down dirt hole

That is a beautiful dog!
What made you set your trap at that exact location? By the look of the 2nd pic, I would have set at the point at the far right. Just curious why you set where you did.

Ditchdiver it's at a 4 way intersection of the shrubbery roads and the far right corner of the field your talking about was really swampy. I also saw fresh tracks there while setting so that's the main reason I put it there. The pond dam in the background has a compass set on the far end and I caught a nice male there Saturday morning. Just put these 5 sets in on Friday and already produced two so it's a great location. Here's the one one the pond dam from Saturday [Linked Image]

Good looking coyote. Got this one last week. It was about 25 yards from where I caught a white one last year.

Nice coyote, I’ve got a farm that I trap that I normally catch 1 or 2 a year that color . I wish I would of kept them and tan them instead of sending them off to a sale , I don’t think they brought over $10.00 .

Well to my disbelief I pulled into the same farm this morning and had another red female. Two in two days is pretty neat especially since I've never saw one around here that color. Assuming they are litter mates [Linked Image]

The highest percentage of orange ones I've seen come from the I-94 corridor in the middle of ND.

The one in this picture is one I caught in 2006 in the NE sandhills.
