Been using roadkill deer for bait piles for my snares but they are hard to come by sometimes when I need them. Does anyone use dead hogs from confinement barns? There is tons of them around here.

I know they will devour wild hog carcasses don't see why they wouldn't do the same to a domestic one.

I'm sure they will work as long as they weren't injected with antibiotics or medication due to a illness.

I'm sure u could get alot of euthanized piglets. Those shouldn't have any injections in them. And alot easier to carry.

I'd would give it a shot. I will say this, growing up in PA I tried using dead hogs as bait, as well as goats. The pigs were a no go but the goats got ate up. Up here in AK it is just the opposite, a goat will stay there all season long, a pig will be gone in a day or two.

why not just catch them going to, coming from, those dead piles? no need to move them someplace else. they are all ready used to the dead piles

its getting that time of year when coyote fur is declining rapidly. might want to wait till next november

I took a big pig out in the country last winter and even split it apart. The birds liked it but the coyotes never went near it.

Pretty much the same down here...hogs rot or get eaten by buzzards, not coyotes.
