Just thought this was pretty cool. I had caught a coon then and coyote in a dirt hole set, then moved the trap outside the catch circle and made another dirt hole set. If these come out right, pic #4 shows the dirt flying and the cat in the air, although it’s barely visible. Also shows the cat came in from the back side over natural backing and some sticks placed to keep something from coming in from the back, lol.

Nice!!!!!!! I long for the time when I will have a yote or bobcat in my trap. I am a dynamite beaver trapper but still in the learning curve on land trapping.

Oh yeah! 2 GA trappers!! Hopefully they’ll be no need for water trapping. Have no desire to take an otter, even though a couple have been caught in cage traps, they’re all released.
I do have a beaver question though???
A beaver is trying to stop up some pipes that are an overflow for a cypress head. The issue is the water doesn’t come up completely to the pipes...it’s more of just a ditch. They have tried snares but when the beavers swim up they have sticks and brush in their mouthes and basically render the snares worthless. The ground around the ditch is way too “marshy” to anchor in. I’m not involved, was just asked my thoughts.

Nice!

Keep your boots dry and your powder too.

I remember when a fur check was reality.....now I'm just trapping for the love of it.

Best Regards,

JT

Many times I have had to pile heavy rocks up to give a 330 something to stabilize on at the edge of a drain pipe when the ground is rocky. I always tie a rope to the trap because the beaver will dislodge the trap after it fires. Another way is to push sticks in the mud and set the eye holes of the trap over the sticks at the desired height. Push more sticks in between the springs and around to funnel the beaver into the trap. I always camouflage the top of the trap with weeds or long grass to give a more natural look. If you see a slide area in the mud where they enter and exit the water a 330 or foothold on a drowning wire will work nicely given the water is 4ft deep or so. Its kind of a gamble on the 330s because a beaver can trigger the trap with a stick in its mouth. Tearing a hole in their dam and setting a 330 out in front to funnel them towards the break has been an extremely effective method for me.
