Get a 1.5 double jaw. It is much more versatile than a #1 and no problems holding coon. I prefer the NO-BS 1.5.
When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.

I caught my thumb in a No B S double jaw 1.5. I almost never got out of it and man it smarted. If than thing can subdue my big self it won't have any trouble with coonzilla. I tell everybody I feel for anything that steps on one of them.

What you would have more problems with chew is square jaw traps . Add a chew guard on them you will hold them. If it is round jaw like 1 1/2 coil they have less problem with chew out

Whichever trap you settle on, the incidence of chewing can be reduced by giving that 'coon something else to work on.
This was, IMO, a major shortcoming of the BMPs on raccoon. They insisted in testing just the trap, not the set. Big difference.
Incorporating a healthy size stick into your land set with a foothold trap for 'coon will divert its attention from the trap to the stick. Seeing progress in demolishing the stick, the 'coon will continue to work on that, and not the trap.
Of course this isn't 100% effective, but overall will reduce chewing.
As far as trap choices, MactheDiver has been collecting the best dryland foothold trap for years: the old Victor #1 1/2 double jaw. #11s would be a close second IMO.

This system will fix all your chewing problems. You can set any sized foot hold trap with no problems. Use a long chain On your trap and In close vicinity place a 160 BG box. When the coon gets caught It will just about 100% of the time crawl Into the box to hide. Dead coon no chewing.

This may not set well with some but I never worried about a coon chewing on It's foot. The foot has no feeling otherwise It wouldn't be chewed on. The first double jawed traps were made for skunks. It still didn't stop the skunk from chewing but It left enough foot still In the trap to keep It from escaping.

Find a way to use one trap that will do a fair job on all species. A #11 isn't that trap.
